Have you seen season 2 yet? The Emmy-nominated drama series on Netflix is inspired by Julia Quinn’s best selling romance novels. The story is about the siblings of the Bridgerton’s family looking for love and happiness. Aren’t we all? The one that ignites your soul and brings out the best in you. Anyways, I must say I love seeing South Asian representation in the series. It’s great seeing inclusion and diversity in the media industry.
The series at times feels dreamy set in the regency era with picturesque country houses, fine paintings and silhouette dresses. Its like a throwback to one of Jane Austen’s novels. Other times, it’s modern with its hot and steamy scenes between Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton. Although I do like Season 2 better with Kate Sharma who is a bold, strong and confident female lead. She’s hunting deers, riding horses alone, isn’t afraid to speak her mind and challenges men.

Let’s say this Indian award winning movie is worth the hype! Gehraiyaan is set at the beach coasts of Goa and Ahliya by the sea a chateaux boutique hotel in Goa. The movie really makes me want to explore Goa and India – it’s the first on my bucket list now. Deepika Pudukone’s performance is intense and elicits emotions in the audience as we can feel the tone and thought patterns of her character – I was taken aback.
The story is about twists and turns of love, lust, deceit and darkness. Deepika plays a yoga instructor while she struggles with memories of her mothers suicide and parents unhappy marriage while she’s in a toneless relationship with Karan (Dhairya Karwa). They both meet her cousin Tia (Ananya Panday) and fiance Zain (Siddhant Chaturvedi) who are in the real estate business and live a lavish lifestyle. Alisha (Deepika) feels lonely in her relationship as her boyfriend is complacent and sparks it off with Zain who hits on her. I won’t ruin the end for you, you’ll just have to check it out.
Enjoy! Let me know what’s your favorite show or movie right now
